Cheshire CO2 Emissions Map The latest CO2 map for Cheshire has been prepared by Conal Kearney (Environmental Monitoring Officer for Cheshire County Council) and relates to data for 2000. No full data is yet available after this date. The work has been prepared to help the CREI, but is an element of the Cheshire Community Strategy. The emissions database is held on the SMHI Airviro software and was initially complied to assess ambient air pollution levels. The software combines the emissions with meteorological and topographical data to calculate ground level concentrations. The emissions inventory was then extended to include greenhouse gases, namely carbon dioxide and methane, to produce maps of emissions over the County. The carbon dioxide map is a spatial representation of gases actually emitted from within the Cheshire County Council boundary and does not included emissions from Cheshire energy usage that was sourced externally. The emission sources that are included are listed below -
On
the map the emissions are aggregated into 500 metre square grids for
easier viewing. Carbon dioxide levels are calculated in terms of the
standard method of annual weight of Carbon emitted.
The map shows emissions for 2000 and will be updated for later years when activity data becomes available. For
further information on the CO2 model contact Conal on 01244 603149.
